About me

A very warm welcome to The Cloud Traveler! My name is Alexandria Brown, a 23-year-old with a desire to see the whole world, one country at a time! I created this space on the internet as a hub for people like me who want to be inspired weekly to travel and live a more adventurous life every day. On this blog, I share travel tips, lifestyle tips, motivation, and a little from my life back at home.

If you want to know more about how I went from a university degree to blogging in my spare time, read on!

How I Came into Blogging

My upbringing was primarily by women. My mother graduated from college and my grandmother encouraged me to do the same. I thought college wasn’t for me, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life or what career I wanted to pursue. I saw so many times where students would be in debt just to have a degree without a job when graduating. I started gaining experience early, perfected my resume, everything to stay on track. I even denied my full ride to college while gaining experience.

I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I wasn’t sure what I was passionate about. I moved to Florida right after high school to explore a new life. I thought getting away from my small hometown, I could get away from the “need to go to college” mindset. I was strongly mistaken. Society kept pushing at me. It told me that I had to get a degree to be successful in life. I felt left out as if I needed to have a degree to keep up. I gave in and I went to college. I found what I was interested in enough to pursue a degree.

I moved back home to Tennessee when my grandmother became ill. Seeing her go downhill devastated me. After she passed, I made a commitment to finish college no matter what, for her. I did it and I am proud that I did. I know she is looking down proud of me, too.

I did what I thought was the “American Dream”. Completed college, bought my first home, own car, found a great career with awesome pay/benefits and did it all before creating a family.

Always have been encouraged by my mother that I can do anything I set my mind to do because, at the end of the day, our happiness is what’s important! When I finished my University studies I knew I didn’t want to be stuck behind a desk all day, so I started booking tickets to places around the states to travel and hopefully find answers.

I will not stop now, I know it will be one crazy ride to get to where I want to be and I am excited to share my journey!

If you feel inspired to travel more, start your own blog, try something new or take up a new hobby, then go for it! I hope these pages are a source of inspiration and motivation that we can all live the life we dream of above the clouds!
